Why I started Home Route Health
I was born and raised on a farm in rural South Mississippi, and I still live here with my wife and our two children. Throughout my life, getting to a gym has meant a long drive.
When the nearest gym is 25 minutes away, every workout means 50 minutes of driving. Add an hour in the gym, and nearly the whole afternoon is gone.
Most people cannot give up that much of a day. They have full-time jobs, families to raise and households to maintain. When the gym is 20 to 50 minutes away, it is hard to justify the drive.
A problem of access
I believe a gym or fitness facility is something every community needs, so the people who live there can improve their health and well-being. Many rural communities do not have one close by, and a gym is not all they go without. Rural areas often lack access to healthcare, have food deserts, and have historically been underserved when it comes to resources in general.
Training that comes to you
So I created Home Route Health to bring the training to where people live. With at-home personal training, I come to you. We train at your home, in the yard, the garage, the carport or the living room, with your equipment or mine. If you live outside my driving range, I coach you online, anywhere in the United States.
Either way, you do not have to give up a large part of your day to improve your health, and you get direct coaching on how to do it as efficiently as possible.
What I bring
Fitness has been my work and my passion for more than a decade. I have been a competitive bodybuilder since 2015 and have competed on local and national stages. I have worked as a personal trainer and coach since 2018. In 2020 I decided to take my education to the next level. I earned a B.S. in Kinesiology, with a focus on exercise science and a minor in chemistry, from the University of Southern Mississippi, completing my capstone with a cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation internship and graduating cum laude in 2023. I then earned an M.S. in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Mississippi Medical Center to deepen my knowledge of human physiology, anatomy, biochemistry and pharmacology.
I have spent my entire adult life learning about the human body and how to improve its health. Home Route Health is my way of passing that knowledge on and making a difference in the lives of the people in my community.
